[edit] Season One
Mike Delfino is a man who posed as the friendly neighborhood plumber, but who was actually working to find his former girlfriend (Deirdre Taylor) who had been missing for years and whose father, Noah, was dying. It was discovered that the toy chest that was dug up from the Young family pool contained the remains of Deirdre. Delfino was at one point convicted of dealing drugs and committing manslaughter when he accidentally killed a corrupt cop who was forcing Deirdre to have sex with him to keep quiet about her drug addiction (Deirdre, not Mike, was the drug dealer).
[edit] Season Two
Mike is Zach's biological father. In the process of his investigation, Mike struck up a romance with Susan Mayer. The relationship hit shaky ground upon the discovery that Mike was Zach's father. Susan was understandably afraid of Zach after having been held up by him, and she also felt the need to protect her daughter from Zach. For these reasons, Susan not only encouraged Zach to head to Utah, but gave him the money to get there as well. When Mike discovered that Susan sent Zach to Utah, he ended their relationship up to that moment.
After Edie Britt sets Susan Mayer's home on fire, Mike helped Susan obtain a wire to convince Edie to confess. Mike then asks Susan if she would consider moving in. Susan gives the thought consideration and leaves Mike's house. Later they make up and he wants to propose to her in the second season's finale, but on his way he is hit on purpose by a car driven by the dentist Orson Hodge.
[edit] Season Three
Mike survived, but was in a coma from which he woke up 7 months later but suffered retrograde amnesia, losing the last 2 years of his past. Having forgotten his relationship with Susan Mayer, Mike had new, distorted ones suggested to him by Edie Britt.
He was soon arrested as Monique Polier's (whom he somewhat remembers) blood was found on his wrench and subsequently dumped by Edie. Since then Susan and Ian are doing the best they can to get him out of jail. In prison he is found by Paul Young who attempts to befriend him in order for Zach to contact him and try to find Felicia Tilman, of whom he was accused of murdering at the end of Season Two.
Later he visited a hypnotherapist to try to remember who murdered Monique Polier. Flashbacks helped him regain all of his memory, and Mike confronted Orson Hodge, and fought with him. During this fight, Orson attempted to evade Mike and fell off the hospital roof. The police have to release Mike when they find Alma and Monique's teeth and suicide note. Mike witnesses Ian propose to Susan and is saddened when she accepts.
Later Mike learns that Ian had seen the engagement ring, with which Mike was going to propose to Susan, the night he got hit by a car and says to Ian he knows Ian only proposed to Susan so early because Susan may learn the truth. They make a deal where if Mike wins the poker game they are playing Ian will allow Mike to tell Susan anything but if Ian wins Mike cannot say anything to Susan and he is to leave them alone. Ian wins and Mike cannot tell Susan anything.
Nevertheless, despite his loss, Mike's feelings for Susan continue to grow. He is constantly seen as a threat by Ian, especially after Mike saves him from their car, which was overturned in a lake. After a heated argument between Ian and Susan, she walks over to Mike's for consolation, and they share an intimate kiss. This renews Mike's belief in the possibility of winning her back, and so he continually forces his way into her and Ian's lives, even confessing to what occurred at the poker game. After learning about this, Susan sends both of them away and cancels her wedding with Ian.
Ian and Mike continued to pursue Susan, but were shot down with each attempt. Eventually, Susan announced that she would go through with her marriage to Ian and she explained to Mike her reasonings for this. Upset by this, Mike left a Dear John Letter on her voicemail saying goodbye. Under the cover of the night he left Wisteria Lane and Susan (who had been dumped by Ian because of her continued love of Mike) behind.
Mike is on a camping trip, so Susan goes to the woods to find him. She and her wilderness guide, Toni, get lost in the woods. Susan complains to Toni about her complicated love life, and Toni yells at Susan and tells her that she doesn't think Susan can handle a permanent relationship because she invites in too much drama. Susan decides to sneak off while Toni is sleeping and try to find Mike on her own. Back at the campground, the one hiker is reported lost, and Mike recognizes Susan from her description. Susan leaves a message on Mike's cell phone promising him that if he takes her back that she will not make their relationship dramatic and they will be a normal couple. In the morning, Mike finds Susan and picks her up and they kiss.
Mike and Susan go out to dinner, the night exactly a year after he and Susan were meant to get engaged and Mike got ran over. Susan waits for Mike to pop the question all night, but Susan’s disappointed when he doesn't. On the way home, Susan tells Mike what she expected and when they pull up into Wisteria Lane the trailer Susan decorated on the night they intended to get engaged was waiting on her driveway. They live the experience they were meant to have that night and they get engaged.
Mike later marries Susan in the woods in the middle of the night. Susan surprises him with a small wedding because she doesn't want to put pressure on Mike to give her an expensive wedding.
[edit] Season Four
In the first episode of Season Four, Mike and Susan find out from the new neighbour and doctor Adam Mayfair that Susan is pregnant and Mike tells Susan he has never been happier. In the second episode of Season 4 "Smiles of a Summer Night" Julie asks Susan if she can go to a party, however Mike tells her he'd rather her not go due to the fact he's seen some crazy parties in the house where Julie was going too even though Susan had given Julie permission to go to the party she sided with Mike and Julie was banned. However Susan decided to go behind Mike's back and tell Julie she just wanted Mike to feel part of the decision making process and she allowed Julie to attend the party. Later that night Mike tells Susan he drove past the house earlier on and saw things like girls running around topless, people staggering around drunk and music blaring. Susan said she needed to run to the store and she went to the party to pick up Julie however some boys at the party mistaked her for a stripper but she told them she was pregnant and she took Julie and Dylan who was with her home. Mike later found out and he told Susan that he respects her decisions on how to raise Julie how she wants as it's her child.
Soon after Mike and Susan have dinner at Bree's. Mike takes a pill in Bree's kitchen and he tells Bree it's asprin, and he leaves the room. Bree spots a pill which Mike had dropped and Bree comes to a conclusion that Mike might be doing drugs and she tells Susan about it. Susan confronts Mike and he tells her the doctor subscribed them to him because he hurt his shoulder and Susan is relieved. However when Bree tells Susan that addicts are good liars Susan searches around the house to see if Mike had anymore drugs. She discovers a packet full of them in a flashlight and once again she confronts him. Mike defends himself however Susan argues with him and then Mike apolgises and he flushes them down the sink and Susan is relieved. However during the night Mike wakes up and he unscrews the drain to get them out.
[edit] Season Five
In ep. 501 Mary Alice talks about how Susan frequently almost ran into a woman named Lila, but the two women never crossed paths …til one night, when Susan and Mike were in a car together and their car crashed into Lila’s. Susan manages to get out of the car and sees a bloody Mike has been thrown out of the car. She screams his name. As Susan’s recalling the car crash, she’s jolted back into the present by the arrival of Mike. Susan flashes back to the aftermath of the crash: Mike survived, but the accident killed a woman and her daughter. Mike and Susan argued about the accident, with Mike insisting he’d had the brakes checked and it wasn’t his fault, while Susan worried that he wasn’t as sorry as he could be. Back in the present, Mike’s taking his son M.J. for the weekend, and when he casually asks about her plans for the weekend, she admits she’s seeing someone. Mike seems happy for her.
In ep. 502 Jackson goes outside Susan’s house in his robe; he meets Mike, who learns he’s Susan’s new man. As the two talk, Susan wakes up, hearing the men talking outside. She hurries down and learns Mike is returning a video game. Mike wants to hang with Jackson sometime because Jackson’s spending time around MJ. He threatens to take her back to court for custody otherwise. Back inside, Jackson apologizes, then learns he’s going out with Mike. When Jackson goes outside again, he meets MJ this time. Susan wants to find a good shirt for Jackson to wear when he meets up with Mike. She wants him to talk to Mike about things like football, as if they don’t get along, she could lose M.J. Susan’s waiting for Jackson to come back, and he finally does. She’s happy to learn they got along and are getting together again. She thanks him by taking him to bed! It really seems to work, until he tries a new move on her ear and she realizes Mike told him! She feels violated. She doesn’t want Jackson and Mike to hang out again. Susan listens to her messages and learns Jackson’s not coming over. She realizes he’s spending time with Mike. Susan heads down to the bar and confronts Mike, thinking Jackson’s there. He says some guy’s taken the seat next to him, and Susan ruins the man’s beer, which the man finds when he comes back to his seat. Mike tells Susan Jackson cancelled on him because Susan wasn’t comfortable with it. He’s sorry for telling Jackson the ear thing but thinks it would be good for them to hang out. She doesn’t want Jackson to see her through Mike’s eyes, given how badly she acted during the last part of their relationship. But he doesn’t see her badly at all, and she considers him her friend. Susan comes home; Jackson’s happy to see her. She’s cool with him hanging out with Mike.
In ep. 503, Mary Alice talks about bullies as we see them on the playground. MJ goes in to his mother. Susan sees his face is scratched, for the second time that week. She wonders which boy is responsible, but he wants to talk to Daddy. Mike tells Susan MJ wouldn’t reveal who’s bullying him. Mike wants to teach him to fight; Jackson suggests a Brazilian dancing fight. Susan sees Juanita push MJ outside and goes to send Juanita away. MJ admits Juanita is bullying him as Juanita goes home. Mike tells Susan he can’t teach MJ to hit a girl and Jackson backs Mike up on this.
In ep. 504 At MJ’s kindergarten class, Mike and Susan are surprised by a picture MJ drew that shows Jackson, Susan, and MJ at home while Mike’s a small, distant figure. Later, Mike brings MJ a new bike, and Susan correctly realizes he’s doing it because of MJ’s picture. When Mike calls Susan to say he’s coming over to teach MJ to ride the bike, Susan panics, as Jackson has just taught MJ everything he needs to know. Susan covers her son in protective gear, then tells him to fall while Mike teaches him how to ride the bike. MJ reluctantly falls, but hurts himself and has to be taken to the hospital. At the hospital, the doctor informs Mike that MJ fell on purpose. Susan admits what she did but says it wasn’t reasonable to make MJ wait to learn how to ride his bike. Dave busts his own pipe to force Mike to come over; once there, Mike says he can’t be in the band as he lives too far away. Dave and Edie buy Mary Alice’s former home and arrange for Mike to rent it for a low price, though Dave won’t let Edie tell Mike that they’re his landlords. Still later, Mike shows up at Susan’s home to say he’s moving in to Mary Alice’s old place so he can be close to his son.
In ep. 505 In a flashback, Susan and Mike are ready to sign their divorce papers. She asks and gets a moment alone with Mike. She wonders if they’re doing the right thing; he reminds her she’s the one who called a lawyer. They’ve been separated for a year. She thinks they can be good again, but he doesn’t think they can do it anymore. He signs the divorce papers and exits.
In ep. 507, Katherine's having an affair with Mike.
In ep. 508, Mike's band has a gig at Battle of the Bands. While the band plays, a fire, started by Dave Williams, overtakes the bar they are in and Mike attempts to rescue Jackson in the process. He is knocked unconscious by the smoke he inhaled, but is rescued by Williams once the latter learns Mike was still in the burning building. Williams then reveals that Mike has been his target, but tells the unconscious Mike, as he is being put on a stretcher to "hang in there, I'm not done with you yet."
Mike and Katherine started to date after learning that Susan Mayer was not to happy that her son MJ Delfino was spenting time over at Katherine's house. Katherine told Susan that Mike was moving in with her and that she would have to deal with the fact that her son was spending time at Katherine's house.
