Susan and Mike's baby. Originally named Conner, they changed his name after Mike's deceased maternal grandfather but because Susan agreed to this beleiving James was the name they were talking about Meynard got the middlename James which resulted in his nickname M.J..

Maynard is now known by "M.J." and is five years old.

In ep. 5.01, Mike’s taking M.J. for the weekend.

In ep. 5.02, The episode begins with Jackson bringing in the newspaper one morning and he met Mike, who stopped by to return M.J.'s video game. This is the same way M.J. met Jackson. When Mike suggests he should hang out with Jackson, Susan protests, but later agrees when he threatens to fight M.J.'s custody.

In ep. 5.03, M.J. goes inside to his mother. Susan sees his face is scratched, for the second time that week. She wonders which boy is responsible, but he wants to talk to Daddy. Mike tells Susan M.J. wouldn’t reveal who’s bullying him. Mike wants to teach him to fight; Jackson suggests a Brazilian dancing fight. Susan sees Juanita push M.J. outside and goes to send Juanita away. M.J. admits Juanita is bullying him as Juanita goes home. Mike tells Susan he can’t teach M.J. to hit a girl and Jackson backs Mike up on this. Susan tells Gabrielle about the problem. Susan gave M.J. a whistle in case Juanita came by again. When she hears the whistle, she goes after Juanita, who’s taken the whistle from M.J.. She’s mad Juanita would push M.J. down. Susan makes her point by pushing Juanita down, then apologizes. Gabrielle confronted Susan over what happened.

In ep. 5.04, at M.J.’s kindergarten class, Mike and Susan are surprised by a picture M.J. drew that shows Jackson, Susan, and M.J. at home while Mike’s a small, distant figure. Later, Mike brings M.J. a new bike, and Susan correctly realizes he’s doing it because of M.J.’s picture. When Mike calls Susan to say he’s coming over to teach M.J. to ride the bike, Susan panics, as Jackson has just taught M.J. everything he needs to know. Susan covers her son in protective gear, then tells him to fall while Mike teaches him how to ride the bike. M.J. reluctantly falls, but hurts himself and has to be taken to the hospital. At the hospital, the doctor informs Mike that M.J. fell on purpose. Susan admits what she did but says it wasn’t reasonable to make M.J. wait to learn how to ride his bike. Still later, Mike shows up at Susan’s home to say he’s moving in to Mary Alice’s old place so he can be close to his son.
