[edit] Season 1

Gabrielle, a retired model in her late 20's, married Carlos Solis for money but found satisfaction with John Rowland, her teenage gardener. She questions her relationship with Carlos, commenting once that she loved him and all her teenage fantasies had been fulfilled, yet she still wasn't happy. Gabrielle absolutely despises Carlos' mother, Juanita.

The families of Gabrielle and Carlos Solis are from the Mexican city of Guadalajara.

Towards the end of the season, Gabrielle learned that she was pregnant, as a result of her husband replacing her birth control pills with sugar pills (it is implied that John is the biological father, as Mary Alice speaks of the baby to come while Gabrielle and John are having sex; however, this is academic as the child did not survive). She almost left Carlos after finding out the truth about her birth control pills, but eventually decided to blackmail him into taking complete care of the baby in return for her testimony.

[edit] Season 2

The Baby

It was discovered that Gabrielle is Roman Catholic, and refuses to divorce Carlos because of her faith. This is simply a lie to cover for her desire to continue her quest for materialistic satisfaction, which Carlos could provide and for her status as being a wife. She lost the baby after being attacked when her house was broken into by Caleb Applewhite, the son of neighbor Betty Applewhite, who had been keeping him chained in her basement because she thought he had committed murder. Believing Gabrielle to be in pain from her loss, Carlos sent a former inmate, Hector Ramos, to help her deal with it. Through Hector, Gabrielle began to realize that she was more deeply affected by the loss of the baby than she would at first admit.

Her most recent rival is Sister Mary Bernard, a pretty Catholic nun who has apparently caused Carlos to turn over a new leaf, and who Gabrielle fears will eventually persuade Carlos to end the marriage. When she heard that Sister Mary's group was short of the money it needed to send Sister Mary to Botswana as part of a relief effort, Gabrielle personally donated the money, just to ensure that Sister Mary would be out of the way (at least for a while), and lied to the doctors on the medical forms for Carlos' physical evaluation so that he would be forced to stay home with her. Gabrielle also invoked the jealousy of Lynette when she planted a supposedly "friendly" kiss on Tom at a party; Lynette got her revenge by making out with Carlos right in front of Gabrielle.

Gabrielle and Carlos want to have a baby, but cannot since she cannot become pregnant again because of her miscarriage. They try adoption, but they find out that John Rowland's mother works for the adoption agency they go to, and as a measure of revenge for Gabby sleeping with John, she steps in and all but rips up the adoption papers in front of them, then tells them that every other adoption agency will know about them. As luck would have it, however, they have a chance to adopt pole-dancer Libby Collins' daughter (who Gabrielle names "Lily"). Libby changes her mind three times, ultimately taking Lily back; this left Gabrielle heartbroken.

The Solises finally decide to make their new maid, Xiao-Mei, the surrogate mother of their baby. The in-vitro fertilization works and Xiao-Mei gets pregnant. In the second season finale, Gabrielle finds out that Carlos is cheating on her with Xiao-Mei. Following this, she surprisingly does not blow up at Carlos; instead, she orders that Xiao-Mei help her throw Carlos's belongings out of the house.

[edit] Season 3

In the third season opener, Gaby and Carlos are said to be getting a divorce. At Bree's wedding party, Xiao-Mei's water breaks. Xiao-Mei's baby is born black and the doctor reveals that the wrong baby was put in Xiao-Mei, and therefore Gabrielle and Carlos will not have a child. Gaby also runs into John Rowland and has sex with him, but only this time John was cheating on his companion. John tells Gaby that he can't do this to his fiancée and leaves.

When Gaby learns that a woman is trying to kill her husband for cheating on her and holding several people at a supermarket hostage, she tells Carlos that she can relate to that woman, and she tells him that they should end their bitterness towards each other before it gets worse. Carlos agrees. Carlos and Gabrielle get divorced, but are at peace with each other. When the divorce is settled, she changes her last name back to Marquez.

After a visit from a member of the Lakeview Adventure Scouts, she decides to try to return to modeling. She meets up with her former agent and all seems to be well - until she gets to the shoot. She meets the new star, Tonya, and tries to bond by giving advice to her to no avail. She then finds out that she is to play the role of a mother in "typical" mother dress. She doesn't buy it and tries to make it work for her, even going so far as to dress up like Britney Spears and call herself "hot mom" or Tonya's "big sister". The photographer gets her agent on the phone, and she comes by the shoot and reads her the riot act, basically telling her that she can't just come back from 10 years of "playing house in the suburbs" and carry on like nothing had happened, and drops the bomb on her further by telling her that she had to pull special favors just to get her into the shoot she's in. She reluctantly finishes the shoot, then comes home, deciding to leave modeling for good. Gaby then starts mentoring young girls in pageantry and is very attracted to one of the girls' single father, Bill. They begin a short-lived romance, which ends when Gabrielle gets a stalker. She thinks that the stalker is Carlos which in turn makes her end the relationship because she feels she is not over her divorce. The stalker actually turns out to be Zach Young, who with his massive amounts of money, has been buying her expensive gifts. She ends up going on two dates with Zach, the first to meet her stalker, and the second to gain bail money to get Mike out of jail. After these dates are over, she makes it clear to Zach that she wants nothing more than friendship, but it doesn't seem that he thinks of it that way from his point of view.

Gaby met mayor candidate Victor Lang and Victor was immediately attracted to Gaby. After a series of events, Victor managed to get Gabrielle to go to dinner with him. Although she said that there will never be anything between them, Victor promised that he will marry her. He proceeds to pursue her with the help of gifts but she only feels attracted to him when he tells her about the mistakes he made during his first marriage, admitting he is only human.

After noticing how the females around look at Victor at his rally for mayor, she decides to have sex with him in the back of his limousine. After 24 hours of waiting for Victor to call, she makes him jealous at his rally by kissing another man. Later, when Gabrielle refuses to answer him after a number of calls, Victor visits her house and confesses his love for her.

After spending the night together at Victor's house, Victor asks Gaby to marry him. She doesn't give him a straight answer but it remained obvious that she was still shaken up by her divorce from Carlos. After a violent press conference emerges from compromising photos of Victor and Gabrielle in an elevator, Gabrielle comes to Victor's rescue and accepts his proposal.

After Edie Britt announces to Gaby that she was dating Carlos, she put her schooled tactics to use and tells Lynette Scavo and Susan Mayer to stay away from her. But Edie gets revenge by inviting Lynette and Susan to Travers' birthday party. Gabrielle threatens to end her friendship with Lynette and Susan, but Carlos intervenes and throws her out of the party. After she tells him she's in love with Victor, Carlos reveals to her that his relationship with Edie will never change.

After being given a parking ticket by a meter man, Gaby is told by her caterer that she won't have to pay for anything else if Victor Lang is elected mayor. Later she is arrested for kicking the meter man. Victor angrily scolds Gabrielle for making a big spectacle for his image as the newly elected mayor. After being shown Gaby's bruised wrist from her fight with the meter man, Victor hires two men to go and beat the meter man to a pulp.

When Susan announces that Mike proposed to her and the wedding is back on she calls around, telling everybody the wedding is back on, and that she plans to have the same arrangements as with her and Ian’s wedding. She tells Gaby of their plans but Gabby tells her she's now booked her own wedding for that day. Susan learns she’s taken the exact wedding she and Ian were supposed to have, which leads to an argument. They apologise to each other and Gaby cancels the flowers but leaves the same date. While talking, Gaby and Susan come up with the idea of sharing the wedding day, but the next day they realise they don't want to. To spare Gaby's feelings, she tells her Mike disapproves with the idea. When Gaby discusses it with Victor, she’s shocked to learn the press will be at their wedding and that most of Victor’s efforts is all about his image. Gaby becomes worried that marrying Victor will be a mistake. She goes through with the wedding in the season finale, but shortly after the ceremony, she overhears Victor telling his father that Gaby is the best thing he's ever done for himself and would be good for the "Latino vote" in an upcoming election for governor. After the realization that she's just being used, Gaby suddenly finds Carlos in an unused room, where he apologises for ruining the wedding, and laments about the mistakes he made in the past. Gaby then kisses Carlos passionately.

[edit] Season 4

[[File:Edie shocks gabrielle.jpg|thumb|I am jealous ] In the fourth season, it is revealed that Gabrielle and Carlos planned to run away together, however, Edie Britt's planned staged suicide attempt (she nearly ended up killing herself when her plan backfired and Carlos got distracted by Mrs. McCluskey) stops Carlos from going through with running away. Guilty, Carlos says that Edie needs him right now and the two continue to have an affair. Edie later reveals to Carlos that she knows about his secret bank account and she tells him she can trust him as long as he doesn't hurt her, forcing Carlos to propose. Gabrielle later tells Victor how she feels like she's not his wife, but a possession and she asks him if they could go away alone for two weeks. Victor looks through his event planner and tells her that they can both go away during two weeks in April, which does not seem to please Gabrielle.

In the second episode of Season Four, Smiles of a Summer Night, Lynette asks during her lunch if anyone would like to attend to her chemotherapy, seeing as she kicked Tom out for being too emotional. Bree, Susan and Katherine Mayfair all offer to do it. Gabrielle, however, pretends not to hear the question. When Lynette confronts her about it, Gabrielle gives in and decides to go with Lynette. Once they're there, however, Gabrielle becomes uncomfortable. She eventually tells Lynette that she was five when her father died from cancer, and that her mother told her not to cry at the behest of her dying father. He wanted Gabrielle to be perpetually smiling, and so that's the way she's been ever since. After hearing this, she and Lynette reconcile. In the third episode of Season four The Game, Gabrielle is angry when she finds out that Carlos and Edie are engaged. She breaks off the affair with Carlos and flirts with Adam, which angers Katherine, who snaps and embarrasses Gabrielle in front of Susan's party guests about the affair Gabrielle had with John Rowland. In retaliation, Gabrielle blurts out that Bree saw Katherine slap her daughter. After seeing that Victor started counting polls when he found out about the affair, Gabrielle realizes that since Carlos smashed a glass when she flirted with Adam, that she wants to be with Carlos, so she continues the affair.

Unfortunately, Edie hires someone to track Carlos and see if he was having an affair. The man takes a picture of both the lovers kissing.

Victor discovers Gabrielle's and Carlos' affair by Edie who shows him the pictures, Victor tells Gabrielle that he's taking her on a boat for a nice day out and tells her that nobody should know about it and it could be their secret. On board, Victor reveals to Gabrielle about how he knows of her affair. He goes into his bag. Gabrielle presumes he has a gun, and hits him over the head with a rowing stick and he falls overboard. Victor calls out to Gabrielle to let him back on. Instead, Gabrielle drives the boat back to shore and rings Carlos. The pair of them then go back out to get Victor. They find him and he climbs back on board. Victor attacks Carlos and knocks him to the ground. He grabs a knife and tells Carlos to get up so he can see the look on Carlos' face when he stabs him. Victor turns around however and receives a hard blow around the head from Gabrielle by the rowing stick. Once again, Victor falls overboard. Carlos and Gabrielle look in the sea but Victor had vanished from sight, and was presumed dead. Gabrielle and Carlos go back to shore after trying to search for Victor for six hours. Gabrielle tells Carlos that nobody knew they were there, and they let the boat go off into the sea so that it can be seen as though Victor committed suicide.

Victor washes up on shore, however, and is alive. He tells his doctor, investigators and Gabrielle that he doesn't remember how he ended up in the ocean. However, after everyone except Gabrielle leaves the room, it is revealed that Victor remembers everything. He threatens Gabrielle, telling her that he needs rest because he'll need all the strength he can get, hinting that he plans to kill Gabrielle.

Gabrielle then decides to flee town with Carlos. She tells her friends who support her, knowing that she will come back as she promised. She then starts packing, while watching the news which states that there is a tornado warning. Carlos says that he needs to run to the banks before it closes to get the information to access his Cayman Island account. Gabrielle then waits. While packing, Edie comes over to Gabrielle's house but before she can talk to her, Carlos's banker comes by and gives who he thinks is Gabby the account information. Edie goes along with the lie, and intends to keep the information for herself. Gabby then catches her as she walks away, yelling at her and starts to chase her. Edie runs into her house, but Gabby breaks down a window, climbing though intending to get the information. The two then go back outside, only to see a Funnel Cloud and run back in Edie's house into a crawl space where the two stay until the storm settles. The two, after speaking to each other, realize they've been wasting their time hating each other. Now it seems the two are on their way to friendship. Later, they both come out of the crawl space, alive and OK.

Carlos comes to get Gabby and go down to the basement when he sees Victor, with the gun intended for both Gabby and Carlos. The two duke it out, Carlos actually knocking the gun out of Victor's hand. The gun is then crushed by a flying car. Carlos is seen then heading toward Bob and Lee's house (the nearest) when he knocks Victor down. He breaks one of the windows at the door when Victor comes up from behind, ready to strike him with a lead pipe. Victor is then killed immediately by a fencepost, and Carlos is hit by a large rock, leaving him unconscious.

In the aftermath of the tornado, Gabby leaves Victor's funeral after his father informs her that not only will she receive nothing from the will, but that he will publicly denounce her if she stays for the service. Gabby discovers that she and Carlos no longer have access to his offshore accounts and will not have the financial status they previously enjoyed. She seems fine with this, but is not aware that the tornado has left Carlos blinded.

Gabrielle visits Carlos at the hospital and is informed that he may not get his sight back for three months, four tops. With the help of Father Crowley, Gabrielle and Carlos are happily remarried. Later, when Edie Britt informs Gabrielle that Carlos's blindness may be permanent, she confronts Carlos for lying to her, forcing him to tell her he was afraid she might leave him. Finally, Gabrielle tells Carlos that she'll always love him "for better or for worse".

When Gabrielle learns that Carlos has bought himself a seeing-eye dog named Roxy, she tries to get rid of the dog. But later Edie Britt pays Gabrielle a visit and not only gives her dog treats, but also tells her to be kind to Carlos since the tornado affair changed him. She also warns her to treat him right because if she doesn't, there are other women who will. In the end, Roxy becomes part of Carlos and Gabrielle's family. They also take in a new tenant to bring in money named Ellie. She is revealed to be a drug-dealer.

In the Season 4 Finale, Gabrielle connected with Ellie about her father and how he ran out on her when she was young. And as the cops are about to bust Ellie and her supplier on drug charges Gabrielle pulls Ellie close and tells her to run and go out the back. Ellie escapes, And calls Gaby and asks for her teddy bear given to her by her father. Gaby get the bear and finds a large sum of cash inside and decides her and Carlos could use the money as they are broke. Ellie calls Gaby back and tells her shes coming back for the money. Ellie struggles with Gabrielle and Gaby gets the money. Ellie runs from the police again and breaks into Katherine Mayfair's house and is shot dead by Wayne Davis. Gabrielle like the other housewives covers for Katherine. As the story jumps ahead five years we see Gabrielle playing poker with the girls all tired and with little to no make-up on. When the game ends she goes upstairs and we see she and Carlos have had two twin daughters, Juanita and Celia Solis.

[edit] Season 5

In ep. 501 Gabrielle’s chubby daughter Juanita is trying on a princess dress that’s not fitting. The saleslady tells Gaby there are no larger dresses and suggests Juanita try a costume shop to buy a Mrs. Shrek costume! Gabrielle defends Juanita, insisting her daughter merely has baby fat. Just then, Juanita’s dress rips. Edie washes her car outside, knowing it’ll attract the attention of the neighbors. Lynette, Gabrielle, Bree, and Susan approach her, and learn she’s moved back, with her husband. Later, the women meet Dave. When Edie wonders why Gaby got so fat, Dave wants her to be nice, and to the women’s amazement, Edie turns nice. As Edie goes to get the muffins she baked, Lynette tells Dave they love him. Gabrielle argues with Carlos, who’s adding cheese to the kids’ brussel sprouts. They argue over Juanita being chubby. At a birthday party, Gabrielle’s upset because Juanita is having a huge piece of cake -- her second piece of cake, as it turns out. Gabrielle overhears two other mothers discussing how she’s let Juanita become fat. When Gabrielle can’t convince Juanita to go to the park to play, she instead plays a “game” with Juanita: she drives forward and makes Juanita run after her. When Juanita tires of the game, she gets onto a bus instead. Carlos is mad at Gabrielle for humiliating Juanita, but we soon learn that Gabrielle’s worries are as much about her own loss of beauty as anything to do with Juanita. She’s glad Carlos can’t see her. But he tells his wife he’ll always think she’s beautiful.

In ep. 502 Gabrielle is invited for a fancy party by Michelle Downing. When she is telling Carlos the good news, she is shocked to find him massaging an elderly in their living room. Feeling uncomfortable, Gaby convinces Carlos to work as a masseur at a country club as the pay is better and she can regain her social status. However, Bree who is hired to cater the party, informs Gaby that they are being left off as they are considered "staff" and the guests felt it is inappropriate to mingle with them. Gaby and Carlos attend the party anyway through the back door. Bree drags Gaby aside and tell her to leave before the host found out. However, it was to later as Carlos is chased off by Michelle. Carlos later confronts Gaby for her actions and she later confessed that she felt she was losing everything she had. Carlos tells Gaby about his clients that are complaining about their lives and revealing inner secrets that they are not happy despite being rich. He assures that he is happy now and the materialism does not matter as much.

In ep. 503 Gabrielle and Carlos show their car to a Middle Eastern couple who want the car priced even lower, given a ding in the bumper. Carlos makes a deal with them even as Gabrielle thinks they’ve gone too low. Gaby wants to keep the car but Carlos reminds her they need to pay the mortgage. Gaby learns the car is for the couple’s nanny. Andrew shows Gabrielle and Carlos the car he’s selling them. Carlos wants to buy it but Gabrielle’s not sure. Andrew points out it’s a lousy car but he still won’t lower the price, even as she says she’ll walk away. He won’t even drop 100 dollars off the price. She gives in. Gabrielle’s in her car with her kids fighting in the back seat. The car’s breaking down and smoke is coming out. Gabrielle confronts Andrew for selling her a lemon with a bad radiator. He tells her how to handle it but she insists he pays for the radiator. Gaby wants to talk to Bree by the end of the day. Susan tells Gabrielle about Juanita bullying MJ. Susan suggests Juanita is fat; Gabrielle thinks MJ is a wuss. They snap at each other. Susan’s mad Juanita would push MJ down. Susan makes her point by pushing Juanita down, then apologizes. Gabrielle confronted Susan over what happened. The two argue and are rude about each others’ kids. Gabrielle pushes Susan, who tries to take the high road--but another comment from Gabrielle has Susan catfighting with Gaby. Susan comes to Gaby and tells her she’s sorry. She’s brought alcohol. Susan talks about her problems raising a boy when Mike’s not there. Gabrielle doesn’t think she’s getting the job done even with Carlos there. Susan thinks Gaby’s the strongest person she knows, even as Gaby thinks she’s become a victim, beaten down by life. Susan and Gabrielle toast each other as good mothers. Gabrielle tells Andrew she wants her three hundred bucks but Andrew refuses. She gets back into her car and threatens to smash into his car. He gives in, but she wants cash.

In ep. 504 Carlos doesn’t understand why Gabrielle insists that Juanita play with Bethany, a weird girl who spends her time spinning. Gabrielle wants Juanita to be invited to Bethany’s playdates, the one time of the week that will allow Gaby and Carlos time for sex! When they finally have time alone, Gabrielle dons a blindfold so she can experience sex in the same way as Carlos. But this backfires when Juanita returns home from her play date early and catches Carlos and Gabrielle having sex. Gabrielle tells Juanita that she and Carlos were wrestling; Carlos wants to tell her the truth but Gabrielle’s not sure if their daughter is ready for that. They tell Juanita the truth; but when Gaby picks Juanita up from her next playdate, Bethany declares that boys have sperm. Juanita told her friend everything she learned about sex, and Bethany’s parents no longer want Juanita at the play date. Carlos and Gabrielle attempt to smooth things over, but when Carlos accidentally informs Bethany that Santa Claus doesn’t exist, their efforts at getting a play date come to an end.

In ep. 505 Mary-Alice talks about a surprise party that went badly. We see Lynette splash a drink in Tom’s face, Susan watch Jackson kiss Katherine, Gabrielle get mad with Carlos, and Orson asking Bree for a divorce. Before going to the party, Gabrielle realized she hasn’t had her period. She talks to Juanita about this and says her “friend” who comes by once a month hasn’t come yet. She flashes back to her doctor telling her she’s pregnant. She slaps her doctor! It’s a disaster, she thinks, even as he says it’s a blessing. There’s a possibility of twins so she slaps the doctor again. Carlos thinks it’s a blessing; he will get a job and says he’s thinking of becoming a masseur. She gave up on her dream of becoming a mother but he wants to celebrate the occasion. In another flashback, her doctor again tells her she’s pregnant again. She’s not happy about this one either. She wants Carlos to put down baby Juanita so she can hit him. She wants him to get a vasectomy but he initially says no. Back in the present, Gaby tells Carlos she thinks she’s pregnant; she wants to get Bob to sue the guy who botched her vasectomy. He reveals he didn’t get a vasectomy as Susan opens the door to let them into the surprise party. Carlos tells Gaby he wants another kid; she’s mad he lied to her. He explains but then apologizes. She decides they’ll use birth control til they both think it’s a good idea to go without. They kiss.

In ep. 506 Carlos had become an expert at making woman happy as a masseur, Mary Alice tells us. One Wednesday afternoon, he made Mrs. Virginia Hildebrand happier than he intended. He talks with another masseur about having accidentally giving the woman an orgasm by touching her back. They check the tip the woman left and it’s a lot. He goes home and shows Gaby the tips but doesn’t explain it. Gabrielle finds Carlos outside with Mrs. Hildebrand. She’s enthused about Carlos’s magic hands and wants Carlos to consider a proposal to go to Europe for two months as her personal masseur for 100,000 dollars. Gabrielle’s excited! Carlos argues with Gaby about going. Gaby talks with Carlos’ masseur friend and wants to get Carlos’ boss to give him time off to join Mrs. Hildebrand in Europe. Gabrielle and the man talk and he admits what Carlos did for Mrs. Hildebrand! Gaby learns where Carlos is at -- at the woman’s home. Gaby storms past Mrs. Hildebrand’s housekeeper and is ordered to not join the woman. Gabrielle goes upstairs and watches as Carlos massages Virginia. The woman sees Gabrielle and sends Carlos out of the room. Mrs. Hildebrand is mortified when Gabrielle talks about the orgasm. Virginia talks about being lonely, estranged from her family, and in pain til Carlos’ touch healed her. Virginia talks about the European fashion and wants to take Gabrielle as her personal shopper! She wants to take Gabrielle’s girls too! Gabrielle agrees. Carlos comes back in as Gabrielle slips out, unseen.

In ep. 507 Gabrielle and Carlos and their kids are at Mrs. Hildebrand’s pool. Virginia suggests they stay the weekend; Gaby okays this while Carlos wants to get ready for Celia’s birthday party. Gaby and Virginia talk Carlos into it, but privately Carlos tells Gaby he doesn’t feel comfy mixing business with pleasure. The servant brings Gabrielle her drink into the pool. Carlos and Gaby are in bed watching TV. Virginia enters and likes the couple’s playfully bickering. Virginia joins them in bed to watch a movie with them! Carlos and Gabrielle feel awkward. Gabrielle finds her girls painting Virginia’s wall, an art project of Virginia’s. The room is for the girls every time they visit, including next weekend. Virginia even has the girls calling her Grandma! Later, Carlos is shocked by this. Gabrielle doesn’t want to go to Europe anymore but Carlos can’t walk away from the money. Gabrielle and Carlos are at their daughter’s party as Virginia arrives to give Celia her gift: Celia will be able to choose an expensive doll. Gabrielle doesn’t want Virginia to be a clingy, wannabe grandmother anymore. Virginia gets mad at Gabrielle, who orders the woman off of their property. Carlos only hears the last bit and wants to apologize, but it’s too late. Virginia calls the country club and says Carlos touched her inappropriately.

In ep. 508 Gaby comes home to find Carlos with Mrs. Hildebrand. She straightened things out and got Carlos his job back, but Gaby’s still angry at her. In private, Carlos tells Gabrielle she put them into her will as the sole heirs of her fortune. Gaby’s ready to open her arms to Virginia again. Virginia shows up at the Solises to go to the club. Gaby tries to get out of it but can’t. Gabrielle and Virginia are together at the club. Virginia says she’s arranged for the girls to go to a private school an hour away. Gabrielle says no and tells Virginia to keep her fortune as she can’t be bought. Wisteria Lane’s band arrives at the club and meets young band Cold Splash. Wisteria Lane’s band Blue Odyssey begins playing. The fire’s seen! Panic ensues. People run. Carlos hits the ground. Virginia falls to the ground. People are fleeing the burning club. Gabrielle sees Mrs. Hildebrand and goes to rescue her. But Virginia’s not going to leave her in the will. Carlos was injured in the fire and is being taken away in an ambulance.

In ep. 509 At the hospital, a doctor informs Gabrielle and Carlos that a tiny bone fragment on Carlos' optic nerve may be responsible for his blindness, and if it's removed through surgery, Carlos may regain his sight. Carlos is excited but upon seeing her reflection in the mirror, Gabrielle's much less excited than her husband. Later, Susan comforts her friend about the problem, while Edie reminds Gaby she has a month to diet and exercise. But when the doctor informs Gabrielle and Carlos the surgery's been moved to Friday, Gabrielle's unable to postpone the surgery. Despite her efforts to quickly lose weight, Gabrielle finally tells Carlos to prepare to be disappointed by her new looks. But he informs his wife he knew he'd marry her the night he saw her eating a plate of BBQ ribs and laugh about it.

In ep. 510 Carlos is beginning to see light and fuzzy shapes -- Gaby’s disappointed but the doctor’s hopeful. Gaby’s ready for sex. There’s a party for Carlos, and he tells the women how great it is. Gabrielle’s mad at Carlos for not wearing his glasses. Susan finds a baseball Carlos says is signed by Lou Gehrig--only it’s not actually that ball, as Gaby sold it. It’s been passed down over several generations. She sold it to some Italian guy. Gaby’s with the Italian collector, who’s using a translator. He won’t give the ball back. Unless--she dances on the table. Gaby turns him down. Gaby comes home to find Carlos with his daughters, seeing them for the first time. He sees a painting’s gone and she admits she sold it; when he’s ok with that, she says she sold the baseball, which he’s not ok with. He wants the baseball back and she’s going to get it. Gabrielle has returned to the collector, and she’s ready to dance. Gaby’s cleaning up when she finds a gorgeous dress in her closet. Carlos bought it after selling the baseball. He thanks her for taking care of the family while he was blind. They hug. He wants to sell his watch but she already did. Carlos looks in Gaby’s closet and sees how empty it looks. She comes home with the baseball, but she’s limping and won’t talk about it.

In ep. 511 Gabrielle learns one of Carlos' former associates has a job opening perfect for Carlos. Carlos, however, has decided to teach the blind, to Gabrielle's horror. Carlos and Gaby host a dinner party where they learn they might be happier than his former associate and his wife are now. It ends however with Gaby pleading that Carlos take the job so they can regain the life they once had. He agrees, begrudgingly.

In ep. 512 Carlos has taken the job mentioned in episode 11. As a result, Gabrielle is stuck at the house with Juanita and Celia who are behaving badly. Juanita will not take her bath as an example, leading Gabrielle having to drag her upstairs which she finds impossible due to Juanita's weight, and Gaby's strength. As a result Gabrielle asks her gardener, who is very domineering, to come in and order her children to pick up their toys and obey their mother. When Carlos returns, he eventually has to resort to ordering his daughters around once more, while Gaby sits nearby drinking a mug of coffee, while trying not to smile.

In ep. 513 The women of Wisteria Lane will recall significant moments from when Eli was present, including the day Mary Alice killed herself. Gabrielle recalls Eli's presence when she is fighting with Carlos working too much since they moved to Wisteria Lane. Eli offers to put in a good word with the other neighbourhood women and gets Gabrielle into one of their poker games, in which she makes herself appear too self-obsessed. Eli tells her that the women think this and as a result Gabrielle goes to apologize, saying she was so use to the life of the city she didn't know how to open herself up to the suburbs. The girls then invite Gabrielle in once more, where she stays friends with them for years to come.
