[edit] Plot
We’re at the Battle of the Bands. The young group Cold Splash is on stage. The band from Wisteria Lane is in the audience listening. They’re old enough to be the younger groups’ fathers. Mike thinks it’ll be a night to remember. When the band from Wisteria Lane takes the stage and begins their song, a fire breaks out! People panic and try to leave -- but the door’s locked.
The next morning, news of the tragedy began to spread. Someone was taken into custody. We move to the day before…
Wisteria Lane’s band arrives at the club and meets young band Cold Splash. Wisteria Lane’s band Blue Odyssey begins playing. The fire’s seen! Panic ensues. People run. Carlos hits the ground. Orson is injured. Virginia falls to the ground. People are fleeing the burning club.
Jackson and Susan watch Julie get out of the cab with her new boyfriend. She mixes up the cab driver and Julie’s boyfriend, who turns out to be a middle aged guy! Susan’s with Julie and her boyfriend Lloyd. Julie goes upstairs with Jackson; Lloyd senses she’s freaking out about his age. He didn’t start dating her til she was no longer his student. Oh, and he points out he’s been married three times. He thinks it’s different with Julie; he has an engagement ring for her but doesn’t want her to say anything. Susan tells Jackson she has to do something before Julie accepts the proposal. Jackson talks her out of it, seemingly; she learns from Warren that there’s a song Lloyd wants him to play so he can propose that night. Susan watches Lloyd and Julie dance. She joins them and talks about how much she wishes she hadn’t given up being single. Jackson pulls away but Susan blows up and it comes out about the engagement. Julie’s shocked and says she’s not getting married ever. Susan’s surprised. Susan talks to Julie who doesn’t want to marry because of Susan’s experiences with it. Susan thinks Julie’s cynical; Susan says not to put up a wall and she likes believing in a happily ever after. The two hug. Jackson tells Susan he’s going to the bathroom -- the employee bathroom. Jackson’s locked in the bathroom. He manages to get out. Mike learns Jackson’s in the bathroom. He goes to the bathroom but ends up collapsing. Jackson’s made it out, but Susan learns Mike’s still in there. When Dave learns this, he goes back into the club despite the fire.
Gaby comes home to find Carlos with Mrs. Hildebrand. She straightened things out and got Carlos his job back, but Gaby’s still angry at her. In private, Carlos tells Gabrielle she put them into her will as the sole heirs of her fortune. Gaby’s ready to open her arms to Virginia again. Virginia shows up at the Solises to go to the club. Gaby tries to get out of it but can’t. Gabrielle and Virginia are together at the club. Virginia says she’s arranged for the girls to go to a private school an hour away. Gabrielle says no and tells Virginia to keep her fortune as she can’t be bought. Gabrielle sees Mrs. Hildebrand and goes to rescue her. But Virginia’s not going to leave her in the will. Carlos was injured in the fire and is being taken away in an ambulance.
Bree talks to Katherine about a reporter coming to interview Bree. Andrew informs Bree the reporter’s known for writing hatchet jobs. Enter the reporter, Sandra Birch. Bree shows the reporter her kitchen and then introduces her to Orson. They’re all on their best behavior; the reporter wonders if she’s really a Donna Reed housewife from the 50s. Bree lets the answering machine pick up a message, which reveals that Orson’s been in prison.Bree sees the reporter talking to Bob and Lee. The men say the women was talking to them about rumors she’s heard, including Rex’s history with S&M hookers and Orson trying to kill Mike. Also at the club, Bree’s joined by the reporter who thinks the book is all about how Bree is better than everyone else. Bree says she doesn’t think she’s great. She’s fallen down many times and wants women to know they can get something right. The reporter can work with that angle.
Preston tells his mother that Porter got Anne Schilling pregnant and they’re running away. She hugs her son. Anne’s surprised by Lynette, who wants to know about the pregnancy. The band’s with the club owner, who’s Anne’s husband. He talks to Tom about Porter growing up so fast. Anne admits she’s pregnant. She talks about how she and her husband Warren fought; Porter came by, and was kind. Lynette’s angry still! Anne says Porter loves her and she’s glad she’s having Porter’s baby. Oh, and Anne’s husband Warren has heard all of this from the doorway. He asks Lynette to leave; Lynette steps out but when she gets to her car she rushes back to find he’s attacked his wife! She tosses something at Warren who takes off. Anne is all bloody and thanks Lynette for coming back. At the hospital, Porter learns what Lynette did. He takes off, to Lynette’s horror. Lynette goes in to the club and asks Gaby if she’s seen Porter. Gaby hasn’t. Porter enters and hits Warren. Lynette steps in and tells Porter to go home! Warren has the doors locked. Lynette confronts Porter.Porter’s outside the club with a gun. Warren thinks Porter started the fire.
Dave takes a call from Dr. Heller, who wonders if Dave’s in Fairview. Dave evades the question and ends the call. Dr. Heller asks someone how to get to Wisteria Lane. Roberta tells Mrs. McCluskey she cross-checked all the phone information of Dave’s. Now they need some face to face info… Driving by, Edie tries to talk Dr. Heller into going to the club. She hands him a sheet about the band, and he reacts to what he reads. Dave screens a call from Dr. Heller, but the doctor is at the club behind him. Dr. Heller is mad at Dave for changing his name and moving to Fairview. Dave tries to evade the truth; he says he’s in a good place right now. They’ll talk after the band plays. Dr. Heller sees the people listed in Dave’s band and reacts. He confronts Dave about this who lies about it. Dr. Heller wants to speak to the man. Dave leads him to a storage closet where he strangles Dr. Heller! Once the doctor’s dead, Dave says he’s sorry. He douses Heller’s body with alcohol. Dave sets Dr. Heller’s body on fire. As he leaves the room, Dave sends Jackson in another direction and locks the door.Dave helps people get out of the club but is staying behind. Edie’s freaking out about Dave when he shows up with Mike. He tells an unconscious Mike to hang in there, as he’s not done with him yet. Dave’s a hero for his efforts.
